2 days in Paris - Day 2

Started our day off with a quick nip into the food market near the hotel - Marche St-Quentin.

We then walked to the Marais area and the Pompidou and had a wonder around before grabbing breakfast in a lovely little cafe - Favorit

We then walked to Place de Vosges which is the oldest square in Paris - it is surrounded by lovely buildings and had a little band playing.

Next we headed to Jardinde Tuileries and to the Musee d'Orangerie which is in the garden. The museum had some beautiful and extremely large Monet's.

Next we headed to Hotel de les Invalides - where Napoleon's tomb is - we didn't go into the exhibition but wandered round the beautiful parade ground.

Next we headed to the Eiffel Tower and took a few snaps before heading to the Arc de Triomphe as the sun was setting.

We climbed up the many stairs to the top and got there as the sun was starting to go down.

We waited up there till it was dark and Alex  was able to get some great shots with his SLR and tri-pod.

We then headed down and walked down the Champs Élysées before jumping on the metro to the Latin quarter for a few drinks and dinner.

After dinner we walked to Le Louvre to get some night time shots.

And with very sore feet (we calculated we walked around 10 miles) we jumped on the metro back to the hotel.

We were really lucky with the weather and had a beautiful day.

2 days in Paris - Day 1

Heading to Paris for the weekend so met Alex at the station and had a lovely glass of wine before checking in at the Eurostar.

When arriving in Paris we headed to our hotel near Gare du Nord -Mademoiselle - the room was small but nice.

We unpacked and headed to the Latin quarter for dinner at Chez Fernand - it was lovely, great food and atmosphere.

We walked home over the chain bridge and stopped to take some pics along the way.

Had a big debate with Alex on the way back about dad's giving their daughters away on their wedding day - I am for, and Alex against...

Sourdough - the start of my journey

I had a great day on Friday learning all about sourdough and how to make sourdough bread.

My first go at crochet

Decided to teach myself to crochet - mainly because I can take a crochet hook on a plane but not knitting needles!

So here is my in progress blanket which I am basically doing as a massive granny square...

Do you crochet?

What is your favourite thing to make with your hook? I'd love to know

My plans for 2014

Super Simple Knitted Baby Blanket

Currently I am knitting a baby blanket - well that's one of the many things I am knitting at the moment!

It's super easy - just choose 3 colours of wool/yarn that go nicely together.

Then with 7mm needles cast on 65 stitches.

Make sure you keep holding all 3 yarns together and just knit every row till you get to the desired sized.

Super easy even for a beginner.

Welcome

Welcome to my new blog - I hope you enjoy!
I'll be posting about a range of things - cooking, knitting, sewing and generally about me and my life.
